The Power of Peers

Three Circles HR exists to facilitate peer groups of highly experienced HR professionals in northwestern Wisconsin.  With two groups in Eau Claire and one in La Crosse, we meet monthly from October through May to discuss a current pre-selected topic and most importantly, to share experiences and build a strong group of peer advisors.  Mostly the same people return year after year, in groups of no more than 15.  We are very sensitive to confidentiality and to ensuring that everyone contributes and learns from each other.

Connect

Over the years of my career in HR, I’ve seen first-hand how incredibly important it is for HR professionals to have a group of trusted peers with which to CONNECT.  From a simple reference on a product or service vendor, to addressing a particularly difficult employee relations issue, knowing you can ask for input from a group of people you trust and respect is priceless.

Collaborate

Throughout the 8 months we meet each year, all members have the opportunity to COLLABORATE. Since all members are in the same boat, what can we learn from each other?  Does it matter what industry you are in?  The size of the company? Ownership structure?  The answer is a resounding – it depends!  And that’s where having a group of similar professionals to bounce ideas off of helps.  We don’t need to reinvent the wheel.

Catalyze

After listening to all that your peers have to say, members can then take what they’ve learned and CATALYZE it to meet their own organization’s needs.  We often have members bring questions from their executives and managers to share with their group – what did THEY do in this situation?  How would it apply to YOUR situation? Since we meet over an 8 month period, there is also often the opportunity to follow up on a solution to see how it worked.
